Statement
Normally we look at something in a perspective meaning the farthest
object will look smaller than the ones nearer to us. In fact,
sometimes you can see an object for example a long stretch of
building looks skewed in a perspective. My goal for this project
is simply to change the perspective of viewing in an Anamorphous
way.
Anamorphous meaning “formed again” in Greek is a
process of distorting the perspective of an image so dramatically
that its correct dimensions can be recaptured only when you
change your point of view just as dramatically.
The art piece that I did have no specific meaning thus it can
be interpreted by anyone who sees it. If you observe the piece
from an extreme angle, you can actually see an image of a person’s
face inside the group of people. This is done using the anamorphic
technique to hide the face in a distorted perspective. This
technique was famously used during the renaissance period. Back
then, artists painted anamorphous murals on cathedral ceiling
to make an illusion that the ceiling appeared to be really high
and opens up to the sky.
