DROP BOX AND PICKUP BOX INFO
For
students to access the pickup and drop boxes, they first have to activate their
HSS-WIN account if they haven't done so already.

(there will be a password link on the right which can be used for account
activation.)
next,
for
PC
start
your VPN client, log into vpn,
and check if you can get to a webpage you normally don't go to.
click
start, right click my computer, click map network drive.
for
drive select anything g: through l: (these should be safe and free:
for
folder, type \\human101.hss-win.rpi.edu\classes
THEN
UNDERNEATH BEFORE CLICKING OK OR CONNECT,
for
username enter HSS-WIN\yourrcsid (substitute your
username for yourrcsid)
for
password enter your hss-win account password (should
be the same as your rcs password if you set it as
such) next click OK
check
reconnect at logon. (note, when you log out or reboot,
a window will pop up saying it cannot connect to all networked or mapped
drives. Just close this. As soon as you are connected through VPN, you can just click on the drive in my computer and it
will reconnect.
then
click connect.
A
folder will open up in seconds.
now
continue to read where it says THEN FOR BOTH MAC AND PC
for
mac,
first
connect to VPN if you need to + when connected, check
if you can get to a web page you have never gone to.
open
finder:
click
go (top menu), then connect to server. For servername
type smb://human101.hss-win.rpi.edu/classes
click
plus to store this link.
then
click connect
for
username enter your rcsid, for password enter your HSS-WIN password.
THEN
FOR BOTH PC AND MAC
double
click on arts-1020
In that
folder you will find two folders; one is a pickup box, where you may find stuff
for you to copy to your machine or just look at, in case your instructor put
something there for you.
THE
DROP BOX IS WRITE ONLY!!!! That means that to drop off
your homework in that folder you must FIRST create a folder on your own
computer that has your rcsid as its name, NEXT put
your homework inside it, then drag the entire
folder over to the drop box. From that point on, you will not be able to
access it anymore, but your instructor will...
