Throughout this course, I have enjoyed working with Photoshop, practicing my
photography skills, and creating animations. My final project combines all three.
Drawing is a favorite hobby of mine; in the past, when I’ve had difficulty drawing
certain poses, I would use photography to aid me. By taking pictures of myself in
the poses I wanted, I could create ball-and-stick models from those poses, and draw
characters on the models that would end up looking completely different from the
original reference—myself. I explored this method in my final project, by getting
pictures taken of myself in various poses and from various perspectives, and turning
those pictures into drawings of three characters I’ve created for a story I plan to
write. These characters, originally from a fictional medieval land, were drawn in my
own style wearing modern-day outfits, influenced by Japanese manga artists such as
Tite Kubo (creator of Bleach).

This project allowed me to expand my knowledge of Photoshop, finding new effects
and techniques to use in my artwork; in particular, I looked into using gradients
and textures, which I have not frequently used in the past. Color theory was also
looked at, as color schemes were assigned to each character. Finally, I took all of
my images, from concept sketches to pose photos to final products, and created a
movie that shows the entire process from start to finish.
