Haunted Memories

Nicholas Bennett

I plan to develop a 3d model of an evolution of the cabin in which our family on my mother's side used to gather during the thanksgiving season. This place is tied up in many of the notions of family and family at its best. The yearly gatherings would be some of the only times that we would see certain relatives, and the only times that we could converse civilly with others. These days, with much of the family scattered and no longer attending these gathering, this cabin has taken on a rather melancholy feeling.

And with the death of my uncle, who owned this cabin, just a few short weeks ago, those memories have gone from melancholoy to downright bleak. The piece I originally intended was one that was filled with the motion of a room devoid of people, of actions that went on, but of people who were inconstant visitors to this peaceful domain. Now with my uncle's death and the passing of this cabin out of my family's hands, the piece has changed into something a little bleaker, a little darker. It is emptier, devoid of the little sounds that told you this place was fun to be. It is devoid of the light that you might see the corners of the room or examine its trophies. It is dark and empty. It is loss.
