Annika Ravenhart - Black Dove

As a Freelance Hunter who specializes in vampires, Annika carries a number of concealed weapons to aid her, ranging from a plethora of daggers and throwing knives, to several firearms including derringers, revolvers, and early pistols, and even a few kinds of explosives, including a special “Tear Bomb”, a modified smoke grenade filled with a mixture of garlic and pepper extracts that irritates the nose and eyes, making it the perfect escape or ambush weapon. As a last resort, the cross on her necklace conceals a small point and may be used as a defensive dagger when all else fails. Despite being half vampire, she knows next to nothing about chiropteran magitechnology, instead relying on her natural abilities and mortal ingenuity.

In spite of her chiropteran heritage, Annika despises all vampires with a passion, using her inherent abilities to go about hunting and exterminating as many as she can. This vendetta is not without cause, however, as though she is wary to speak of it, she was conceived when her mother, a common mortal woman, was raped by a rogue chiropteran. Growing up as an outcast, Annika had to learn to survive in a harsh world where she was never truly accepted by anyone, and thus she has devoted her life to hunting all forms of ghouls and unnatural creatures—for a nominal fee. However, as anyone may tell you, the Black Dove’s specialty is in chiropteran extermination, and it is the only service she has ever undertaken for free.

Being only half vampire, Annika is able to walk around during the day without fear, yet she has also inherited many chiropteran traits, such as perfect night vision, enhanced strength and reflexes… and a need to feed. She refuses to feed on mortals, however, begrudgingly taking her blood from livestock and wild animals in the area, though this often causes suspicion in the locals, lending more to her nomadic nature. The mortal half of her cancels out much of her inherent chiropteran healing factor, and also prevents her from producing true ichor, instead making a corrupted and unstable substance that acts as a deadly poison to vampires and mortals alike.
