The Game Development Club Game Display Cabinet is a large project intended to allow students of RPI to create unique, arcade-style games and put them on display for immediate use in a public venue. The project consists of retrofitting an old, defunct arcade cabinet into a dynamic, up-to-date installation with modern electronics and a more flexible control scheme.

The cabinet will, once functional, be placed in a prominent position in the Game Room in the student union at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. As this location is frequented by hundreds each week, it is an ideal venue for student-created games to be displayed for public consumption. A nominal fee will be charged for each gameplay to help recuperate the initial investment and pay for maintenance. Additionally, the cabinet will be sufficiently portable for use as a showcase piece, allowing student-created games to be displayed to audiences beyond the other students of RPI.
